Formal announcement of the Coalition's incorporation and inaugural public meeting was held on April 15, 1988. The Coalition's primary area of interest is the 152-mile section between Harrisburg and New York State.

Current leadership includes: Mark Murawski, Lycoming County Planning Commission-president; Richard Campbell, H.F. Campbell & Son Trucking-vice-president; Jerry Walls, Lycoming County Planning Commission-treasurer; and Steve Herman, SEDA-COG-secretary.

Since the Route 15 Coalition's existence, the group has seen tremendous progress in the corridor, from ground breakings and ribbon cuttings to major legislation from Congress.
